Nature in cities takes many forms and brings many benefits, not only in aesthetic value but also in its potential to strengthen ecological systems. Furthermore, for many people, feeling in touch with nature is synonymous with well-being and quality of life. That is why designing Nature-Based Solutions that enhance urban biodiversity positively impacts not only the environment, but also people's lives.

To draw attention to the importance of urban biodiversity, CLEVER Cities Milan partner Eliante launched a new cartoon and DIY pollinator guide including flower seeds and tips to attract pollinators.

Biodiversity can grow right outside our homes, on our balconies, terraces and courtyards. One must only focus on plants that offer food and shelter to species that can live in the city such as birds and butterflies. The CLEVER Cities pollinator guide shows how to recognize the different species that populate Milan's parks and green areas, providing an outlet for people's curiosity towards the city's surroundings.

Eliante supports the Municipality of Milan in the design of the new Giambellino 129 park (CLEVER Action Lab 3) - aiming to enhance elements of biodiversity by favouring trees and shrubs, native herbaceous species which attract birds and pollinators, and by creating suitable habitats for foraging and shelter wherever possible.
