With the help of input and design ideas from local residents, CLEVER City London, alongside Peabody, has successfully delivered its first Nature-based Solution: an edible garden in South Thamesmead. To celebrate, the CLEVER Cities team organised a community gathering on July 3rd to introduce locals to the garden and to receive feedback on the initiative.

This European Week of Regions and Cities 2021 Side Event targeted cities and local administrations with the goal of shedding light on the process and effort involved for cities to align local urban greening strategies with the wider EU policy framework and answer the Biodiversity Strategy’s ambitious call to develop Urban Greening Plans. CLEVER Cities was represented by the project coordinator, Martin Krekeler, from the Hamburg Senate Chancellery.

As part of the event "Langer Tag der StadtNatur Hamburg" (Long Day of Urban Nature Hamburg), which in 2020 was renamed "Kurzer Tag der StadtNatur" (Short Day of Urban Nature Hamburg) due to the coronavirus pandemic, the CLEVER Cities team produced a virtual tour of Hamburg's project area Neugraben-Fischbek. The "Long Day of Urban Nature Hamburg" is organized annually by the Loki-Schmidt Foundation since 2011. (Video in German)
